Transcapital advises Roger Padois et Bertrand group on the transfer of Eaux Abatilles to Jean Merlaut, owner of Château Gruaud Larose.
Controlled by Roger Padois and the group of Olivier Bertrand, Société des Eaux Minérales d’Arcachon or S.E.M.A produces and markets mineral waters. The company exploits 2 sources: the natural mineral water of Abatilles-Source Saint Anne and the natural water source Source des Pins.
In 2008, Roger Padois paired with Olivier Bertrand to take over this asset considered as non-strategic by the group Nestlé Waters. Reinforced by consequent endeavours both at the marketing and commercial levels, volumes sold by the company have been multiplied by 4 and sales by 3 within 4 years. At the end of 2012, the company was selling over 40 million bottles.
With Roger Padois about to retire, the shareholders mandated Transcapital to advise them in the transfer of all S.E.M.A. shares. Following a process of auction involving specialists of mineral waters, investment funds and local industrial players, the shareholders chose to sell gradually their shares to Jean Merlaut’s group from Bordeaux, owner of a trade company of wines and of Châteaux Gruaud Larose, Camensac and Dudon.
